You may want to stock up on supplies and sharpen your katanas now, because a “Walking Dead” spinoff has gotten the official green light from AMC. According to TV Guide, the spinoff, which is rumored to premiere in 2015, is being led by someone who knows a thing or two about gore. Dave Erickson, known for “Sons of Anarchy,” will be joining Robert Kirkman, Gale Ann Hurd and the rest of the crew as he writes and acts as executive producer for the series.

Not too familiar with Erickson’s work? The talented writer/producer has worked on projects from “Canterbury’s Law” in 2009 to “Low Winter Sun” in 2013. Now he's trading in Harleys for flesh-eating zombies.

But according to reports, fans shouldn’t expect to see Erickson’s work too soon.

“It’s still in the very early stages because we’ve been focusing so much on ‘The Walking Dead 1.0,’” Hurd revealed to E! News at the beginning of February. “We just finished mixing the last episode of the season on Friday, so that’s been taking all of our focus, as it should.”

Charlie Collier, AMC network chief, expressed similar sentiments when he dished to Vulture that to focus energy on the spinoff before the Season 4 finale airs would be a mistake.

“What we want to do is not diminish the mothership,” Collier said in January. “What we want to do is find something that everyone involved feels as passionately about as a unique vehicle and unique enterprise as compared to the original series. We’ll take our time, and do it right.”

We just hope they don’t take too much time. We’re itching to see what “The Walking Dead” spinoff will be about. What we do know already is that the sophomore series is seeking actors.
