Stocks fell on Monday, with major indexes down 2 percent on lingering concerns about a deal over economic integration in Europe and after Intel Corp INTC.O cut its fourth-quarter revenue expectations.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 232.01 points, or 1.90 percent, to 11,952.25. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> dropped 26.90 points, or 2.14 percent, to 1,228.29. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> dropped 53.39 points, or 2.02 percent, to 2,593.46.
