U.S. stocks rose to session highs on Thursday following news that pointed to solid bidding for the Treasury's 30-year bond auction.

Reports of surprisingly strong March retail sales had helped underpin the market heading into the auction's results and offset earlier worries over Greece's lingering fiscal crisis.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 35.90 points, or 0.33 percent, at 10,933.42. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 3.03 points, or 0.26 percent, at 1,185.48. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 4.97 points, or 0.20 percent, at 2,436.13.
