Wall St opens higher after upbeat data
Stocks rose broadly on Thursday after weekly jobless claims fell last week and upbeat data from China and Europe fueled optimism the global economy is on track for growth.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> rose 71.12 points, or 0.66 percent, to 10,927.75. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> gained 8.01 points, or 0.68 percent, to 1,177.44. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> climbed 15.75 points, or 0.66 percent, to 2,413.71.
