U.S. stocks turned negative on Monday, weighed by technology shares, giving up initial gains at the open on earnings optimism.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 4.61 points, or 0.05 percent, at 10,000.52. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 0.53 points, or 0.05 percent, at 1,087.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 3.31 points, or 0.15 percent, at 2,153.49.
