Stocks mostly rose on Friday, led by solid earnings from McDonald's, General Electric and Microsoft, but declines in banks and technology shares pulled indexes from their day's highs.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 74.28 points, or 0.57 percent, at 13,038.38. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 2.82 points, or 0.20 percent, at 1,379.74. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 6.03 points, or 0.20 percent, at 3,001.53.

For the week, the Dow rose 1.4 percent, the S&P 500 added 0.6 percent and the Nasdaq fell 0.4 percent.
