U.S. stocks extended gains on Thursday in a broad-based rally led by financial shares after the Federal Reserve said it was more upbeat about the economy and Greece looked closer to a bailout deal.

* The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 92.50 points, or 0.84 percent, to 11,137.77. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 12.34 points, or 1.04 percent, to 1,203.70. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 18.63 points, or 0.75 percent, at 2,490.36.
