Wall Street rose on Wednesday as investors looked past weaker-than-expected personal spending and as analysts noted the holiday season is traditionally a strong period for U.S. equities.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 14.58 points, or 0.14 percent, at 10,479.51. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> added 2.54 points, or 0.23 percent, at 1,120.56. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 6.09 points, or 0.27 percent, at 2,258.76.
