U.S. stocks rose on Monday, sending the Nasdaq up more than 1 percent, as the appetite for riskier assets returned, following news of Abu Dhabi's $10 billion rescue of Dubai, and Exxon Mobil Corp's planned takeover of natural gas supplier XTO Energy Inc .

* All three major U.S. stock indexes were on track to post fresh closing highs since the start of the market's rally in early March.

* The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 24.64 points, or 0.24 percent, at 10,496.14. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 6.99 points, or 0.63 percent, at 1,113.40. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 20.28 points, or 0.93 percent, at 2,210.59.
