Wall Street slides on recovery worries
U.S. stocks extended losses on Tuesday, with the three major indexes at session lows as investors worried about the strength of the expected economic recovery following data that showed consumer confidence unexpectedly fell in June.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> lost 116.69 points, or 1.37 percent, to 8,412.69. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> dropped 12.42 points, or 1.34 percent, to 914.81. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> fell 17.24 points, or 0.93 percent, to 1,826.82.
