Wall Street turns positive led by tech
Stocks turned positive in early trading on Friday as technology shares advanced, overshadowing drops in telecommunications services and consumer issues.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 19.72 points, or 0.20 percent, to 9,806.59. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 1.46 points, or 0.14 percent, to 1,066.94. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> added 6.38 points, or 0.30 percent, to 2,130.31.
The PHLX semiconductor index <.SOXX> rose 1.7 percent.
