Tired of the snow? If you’re a high school senior, you’ve got a chance to escape the cold by picking a college or university in a town with warm weather. Some people love sledding in heavy coats, but others would rather wear flip-flops at the beach.

If feeling frozen during finals is not your style, you have options. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is on its own island. Winter temperatures at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, rarely go below 60 degrees. The Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida, is five minutes from the beach, and Honolulu Community College is, well, in Hawaii.

"Snow and shoveling and ice -- it's overrated, really," University of South Florida alumna Naomi Prioleau told U.S. News and World Report. "Winter's a pain in the neck, [so] I didn't apply to any schools where I knew would have snow."

1. Georgia Southern University in Statesboro has 212 sunny days a year and an average January low of 36.4 degrees.

2. The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque boasts 280 sunny days a year and an average January low of 24 degrees.

3. The University of Utah in Salt Lake City sees roughly 222 sunny days a year with an average January low of 26 degrees.

4. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas has 292 sunny days a year and an average January low of 39 degrees.

5. The University of Texas at El Paso sees 297 sunny days a year and has an average January low of 33 degrees.

6. The University of Tampa in Florida gets roughly 246 sunny days a year and enjoys an average January low of 53 degrees.

7. The University of Puerto Rico in San Juan gets 247 sunny days a year with an average January low of 72 degrees.

8. Arizona State University in Tempe sees 300 sunny days a year and has an average January low of 46 degrees.

9. University of Hawaii at Manoa enjoys 271 sunny days a year with an average January low of 66 degrees.

10. The University of Southern California in Los Angeles has 292 sunny days a year and an average January low of 46 degrees.
