"Riverdale" star KJ Apa got into a car crash accident in Vancouver last week, prompting fans and netizens to question the workplace's safety.

Apa, who plays Archie on the CW drama "Riverdale," reportedly fell asleep while driving due to long working hours. On the day of the accident, he reportedly left the set early morning after a 16-hour workday. Addressing rumors that the studio is overworking its cast and crew, Warner Bros. Television has issued a statement regarding the set and production of "Riverdale."

"The safety of the cast and crew on all of our productions is of paramount importance to the Studio," a studio spokesperson said in a statement issued on Thursday, Variety reported. "Productions adhere to the Screen Actors Guild–mandated turnaround time of 12 hours from wrap time to next day call time for cast members. In accordance with industry standard policy, if any cast or crew member feels tired or unsafe at any time after working, the Studio will provide a taxi, a driver or a hotel room upon request. This is communicated to all cast and crew, both in writing and verbally, at the beginning of production and is reiterated continuously throughout the duration of production."

As for Apa's accident, the spokesperson said that they were "extremely grateful" that the actor was uninjured. They also addressed the concerns over the working hours of the cast and crew on the set of "Riverdale." According to the spokesperson, the show has a large cast and not all of them have to be on set every day. They also denied that Apa worked for 16 hours on the day of his accident.

"On the day of the accident, KJ worked 14.2 hours. The previous day he worked 2.5 hours, and the day before that he worked 7.7 hours," the spokesperson explained. "KJ has repeatedly been informed about making production aware if he is tired or feels unsafe, and if so, either a ride or hotel room will be provided for him."

Since Apa was not injured, he was not taken to the hospital following the car accident. He was reportedly immediately treated by first responders on the scene. The spokesperson also added that they sent a doctor to his home later that day to ensure his well-being.

Apa has already bounced back from the incident. On Thursday, the actor was spotted working out following the car crash accident the previous week. The actor even stopped for a FaceTime call, Just Jared reported.
