With the Arizona Diamondbacks having depth in the infield, the Washington Nationals have shown interest in working out a tarde with Arizona, according to reports. Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reported Washington's interest on Twitter.

The Nationals are currently atop the East Division of the National League with a 37-33 win-loss record, while the Diamondbacks are third in the West Division at 34-35.

Players who may be of interest to the Nationals include Ben Zobrist, Aaron Hill, Nick Ahmed, Cliff Pennington and Chris Owings. Washington’s own infielders, including Ian Desmond and Anthony Rendon, have struggled for much of the year.

Last season, there were reports that Desmond was on the trading block and it appears the Nationals will again explore their options as the July 31 trade deadline nears.
