April, the pregnant giraffe, remains “happy” and “healthy” as she and millions of people across the world wait for the birth of her calf, the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York, said Monday.

The giraffe became an instant Internet sensation after the upstate New York zoo set up a live stream – in February – to document her pregnancy and the birth of her calf. The live stream went viral and is currently watched by around 100,000 people at any given time.

Two months after the live stream was set up, there is still no sign of April going into active labor. This has made many of her fans anxious and caused a stir over whether the entire pregnancy was a hoax.

You can watch the live stream here.

However, the zoo maintains that that is not the case. The Animal Adventure Park posts regular updates about the giraffe’s health on its Facebook page, which has over a million followers. The aim is to keep April’s fans involved about her condition.

In the evening update Monday, the zoo said “some extra discharge and swell” was observed in the giraffe. April’s vet was brought in and he “confirms we have a happy healthy momma and the waiting game continues! WE WILL SEE WHAT THE FULL MOON BRINGS!” the zoo added in the update.

With the sun coming out after a bout of bad weather, April and her mate Oliver enjoyed a day out. Earlier in the day Monday, the zoo said, “Giraffes will have a beautiful day in the yard with 70 degree temperatures on the horizon!”

“April and Oliver will be outside again tomorrow!” the evening update added. “This weather is great! Summer is coming!”

The calf will be April’s fourth but for Oliver, who lives in the enclosure next to April’s, this will be the first calf.
