If you want to watch a video of Tim Tebow’s first at-bat in 2017 MLB spring training, you won’t need to spare much time. The New York Mets’ designated hitter barely spent any time in the batter’s box before he struck out looking in the third inning of the team's game against the Boston Red Sox.

Facing AL Cy Young award winner Rick Porcello, Tebow looked overmatched during his brief time up at the plate. It took just four pitches from the Red Sox ace and less than a minute before Tebow was sent back to the dugout.

Tebow hit eighth in the lineup and started at DH at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Tebow came back to the plate in the fourth inning, but this time with the bases loaded. A run scored when he hit into a double play, and he wasn't awarded an RBI.

The former Heisman Trophy winner is a long shot to make New York’s roster, playing competitive baseball for the first time since he was in high school. He signed with the team last fall and has been working towards making the transition from the NFL to MLB ever since.

Tebow played 19 games in the Arizona Fall League, posting a .194 batting average in 62 at-bats. He struck out at a high rate and didn’t hit any home runs, though he did improve his numbers towards the end of the season.
