Things may finally be looking better for former Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom. The ex-NBA star woke up from his coma and spoke to his estranged wife, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star Khloé Kardashian, E! Online wrote in an exclusive report Friday.

Odom, 35, was rushed to a hospital Tuesday after he was discovered unconscious at a Nevada brothel. By Friday, he opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was his estranged wife, who has reportedly refused to move from his bedside at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, the report said. He reportedly was even able to talk to her. Odom gave Kardashian, 31, the thumbs-up sign and then said, “Hey, baby.” Then he fell back asleep, a source told E! Online Friday. There’s even more good news: Odom is breathing without the help of a ventilator, the source said.

Earlier in the day, TMZ reported that Odom’s heart was responding. Before Friday, doctors gave the former athlete a 50-50 shot of survival and said he was “fighting for his life.”

CNN had a similar update to share Friday: Odom "got a tiny bit better -- emphasis on tiny -- and he was responsive in the middle of the night for a moment," the network's source said.

Upon hearing the good news, his friend and former Lakers teammate Daniel Artest took to Twitter. “Yes. He's alert, stable, did a little talking and breathing on his own,” he wrote. “#PrayersForLamar.”

Kardashian, 31, hasn’t made a direct statement about Odom. The family released a comment about what’s going on with their apps. The notice was shared on the homepage of each of their sites. "As a family, we have decided to hold off on publishing content across our apps while we continue to support and pray for Lamar,” the memo read. “Thank you for your kindness and understanding during this difficult time."
