With rumors and speculation swirling, Louis Tomlinson and Briana Jungwirth have finally decided to reveal the name they chose for their son. On Monday it was reported that the couple had either named the baby Conchobar, a name with roots in Ireland and England, or Sydney Rain, neither of which were popular among fans. Days later the One Direction crooner and first-time mom have both decided the time has come to share their baby boy's official name, as well as the first photos of him.

As was reported by People magazine Tomlinson, 24, took to Instagram on Wednesday where he posted an adorable black and white snap of him and the newborn. In the picture the proud papa can be seen shirtless with his son lying peacefully on his chest. The caption reveals that Tomlinson and Jungwirth named their first child Freddie Reign.

Tomlinson's baby mama further confirmed the child's name, sharing her own photo with baby Freddie, who is now one week old. The photo was taken in the hospital shortly after Jungwirth gave birth. In her Instagram caption she simply wrote the newborn's date of birth and his name, calling him the "love of my life."

While these are the first official photos of Freddie's face, it is not the first time fans have gotten some sort of glimpse at him. As was previously reported the duo were seen out and about together with baby in tow. The new parents were reportedly bringing their son for an after-birth check up. The baby stayed well hidden in his car seat covered by a white blanket.

Prior to the release of Tomlinson and Jungwirth's baby name, fans could only speculate about what the duo may have chosen. It was initially reported that they were torn between several names, but Conchobar and Sydney Rain seemed to gain the most traction amongst upset 1D fans. They took to Twitter to express their discontent and confusion, trying to work out how one would even begin to pronounce Conchobar — which, as it turns out, is just a Celtic take on the traditional Connor.

Fans seem much more pleased with the name Freddie Reign. Tomlinson has since taken to Twitter to thank his fans for their love and support during this joyous time.
