Wrestling legend Ric Flair was hospitalized over the weekend, and recent reports indicate that his condition is getting worse. Some of Flair’s representatives and friends have publicly asked for prayers and good thoughts for the WWE Hall of Famer.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Flair was admitted to the hospital for heart-related issues Saturday morning and then taken to an ICU. One of Flair’s representatives insisted that the hospital visit was “routine” and there was no reason to panic when the news first broke, but she has since asked for well wishes for Flair because of the 68-year-old’s medical issues.

According to PW Insider’s Mike Johnson, Flair is in a hospital near his home in Atlanta. Flair’s reps have not confirmed that report or any more information regarding his hospital visit.

Flair quickly became a top trending topic on Twitter when it was reported that his condition was serious. His career transcended professional wrestling, and he’s been engrained in popular culture long after his in-ring career came to an end.

While the likes of Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock are among the most famous professional wrestlers in history, Flair is considered by many to be the greatest performer of all time. His career spanned five decades as he won championships in both WCW and WWE. His legendary 16-time world title reigns were recognized as the most ever until John Cena tied his mark earlier this year.

Flair won his first world title when he defeated Dusty Rhodes for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1981. He won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship for the final time 19 years later.

Flair is the only wrestler to be inducted twice into the WWE Hall of Fame. He was inducted by himself in 2008, and four years later he was inducted as a member of The Four Horsemen.

Flair first retired from wrestling in 2008 with a match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24, but he continued to wrestle outside of WWE for the next few years, including a two-year run with TNA. Even though his in-ring career with WWE is done, he’s still been heavily involved with the company, appearing on “Monday Night Raw” and pay-per-views as an on-screen character.

Flair’s last “Monday Night Raw” appearance occurred on Nov. 28, 2016 when he congratulated then-Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks for defeating his daughter, Charlotte Flair, in a title match. Ric has been involved in storylines with Charlotte, who became a full-time member of WWE’s main roster in 2015 and has already had four title reigns of her own.

Flair hosted his own podcast for a short period of time, interviewing other wrestlers and sharing stories from his career in 2015 and 2016. “The Ric Flair Show” came to an end in December of last year.

At WrestleMania Axxess in Orlando March 30, WWE unveiled a life-sized statue of Flair. ESPN Films recently produced a 30 for 30 documentary about Flair’s career, “Nature Boy,” which will premiere Nov. 7 on ESPN.
