Prince William sent out a heartfelt message to England’s Three Lions after they lost to Croatia at the World Cup.

The dad of three penned a tweet via the Kensington Palace’s official account on Wednesday night. “I know how disappointed England must feel right now but I couldn’t be more proud of this team and you should hold your heads high. You’ve had an incredible World Cup, made history, and gave us fans something to believe in. We know there is more to come from this England team,” he wrote.

Prior to the team’s loss, Prince Harry was also asked to comment regarding the Three Lions and said that he thinks England will bring home the big win. Unfortunately, his prediction was incorrect.

In related news, Prince William serves as the president of the Football Association. As such, this is not the first time that he showed his support for the England team on social media. In the past, Prince William also reacted to the England team defeating Colombia in the penalty shootout.

“I couldn’t be proud of @england – a victory penalty shootout! You have well and truly earned your place in the final eight of the #worldcup and you should know the whole country is right behind you for Saturday! Come on England!” he wrote.

Earlier this year, Kate Middleton’s husband also tweeted about the game after Three Lions won over Sweden on July 7.

“You wanted to make history @england and you are doing just that. This has been an incredible #WorldCup run and we’ve enjoyed every minute. You deserve this moment – Football’s Coming Home! W,” he wrote.

Typically, Prince William signs his tweets with his initial, “W,” so that royal fans would know that he was the one that penned the post on social media. The 36-year-old prince and the other members of the royal family are not allowed to have a personal social media account if they are considered working royals.
