“Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara knows the importance of staying healthy as she continues to grow older.

In an interview with SELF, the actress said one of her secrets is that she tries to do her workouts regularly, especially now that she’s not getting any younger. “I’m ageing, and I know that it makes a difference and you can see it in women and men that work out. Things start to change, and I’m like, ‘The only thing to do is go and take care of it,’” she said.

Vergara, 44, switches up her workouts every six months to make sure that her body will be challenged. At the moment, she’s into boxing, but the actress said that Cross Fit training is something she knows she won’t ever do. Vergara explained that it’s because this type of workout requires her to jump, and she can’t do that because she has weak knees.

When it comes to her diet, Vergara and her husband, Joe Manganiello, eat healthy foods within the week and consume small portions of desserts on weekends.

Meanwhile, the actress also finds inspiration from her “Modern Family” co-star, Ed O’Neill, who plays her onscreen partner. Vergara revealed that O’Neill is also very healthy because he works out every single day. He also happens to be a black-belter in jiu-jitsu. “He’s 70 years old and moves like a 40-year-old man. It’s impressive to see what exercise has done to him,” she said.

In other news, Vergara also made headlines recently when she shared her thoughts on Donald Trump’s decision to ban immigrants from the United States. On her Instagram account, the actress posted a photo of herself wearing a low-cut dress and captioned it with “Immigrants.” The actress also used the hashtag, “No wonder they don’t want us here.” The photo has since been deleted.
