Authorities say a Mexican teenager stabbed her best friend to death after she posted nude photos of the pair on Facebook.

According to the New York Daily News, Erandy Elizabeth Gutierrez, 16, attacked her friend, Anel Baez, 16, on March 19. Police say Gutierrez stabbed her a total of 65 times. It is believed the teenager was seeking revenge for naked selfies of the two together that Baez uploaded to Facebook.

Mexican media report that Baez invited her former friend to her home in Guamúchil, Sinaloa state, to talk the situation out. Once she arrived at the home, Gutierrez reportedly asked to use the bathroom. She then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and proceeded to stab Baez. She fled from the scene, but was arrested days later at Baez’s funeral.

Gutierrez threatened Baez on Twitter just weeks before the crime, reports Notus. Gutierrez is expected to be charged with murder later this week. But according to the Daily News, since she will be prosecuted as a juvenile under Mexican law, she may face only seven years in prison if she is convicted.
