UPDATE: Monday, Nov. 13, 2017 at 5:33 a.m. EST: A fifth woman has accused Republican Senate Candidate Roy Moore of making sexual advances toward her when she was a teen Monday.

The woman, Beverly Young Nelson, accused Moore of attempting a sexual encounter with her when she was 16 and he was in his early 30s. Moore allegedly was driving her home from her waitress job and stopped in a parking lot on the way.

"Mr. Moore reached over and began groping me, putting his hands on my breasts. I tried to open my car door to leave, but he reached over me and locked it so I could not get out. I tried fighting him off, while yelling at him to stop, but instead of stopping he began squeezing my neck attempting to force my head into his crotch," said Nelson in a press conference Monday."I continued to struggle. I was determined that I was not going to allow him to force me to have sex with him. I was terrified. He was also trying to pull my shirt off. I thought that he was going to rape me. I was twisting and struggling and begging him to stop. I had tears running down my face."

Nelson alleges that Moore eventually gave up and left her there.

Original story:

Republican Senate Candidate Roy Moore was accused of pursuing relationships with teenagers and having a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old while he was 32 in an investigation by the Washington Post last week. Roy Moore’s wife Kayla Moore is now writing on Facebook that the Washington Post offered money for accusers to come forward, according to CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski.

“Meanwhile on Facebook, Moore's wife Kayla, president of his Christian non-profit, has been going from group to group posting the clearly fake allegation [the Washington Post] offered women 1000$ to come forward,” Kaczynski tweeted Monday.

“Roy Moore's wife Kayla writes on Facebook the campaign is gathering evidence the Moore accusers were paid to come forward — which will part of their lawsuit,” he wrote in a subsequent tweet.

Roy Moore was previously chief justice for the Alabama Supreme Court and was an assistant district attorney for Etowah County in northern Alabama when the alleged encounters took place. One woman claimed she was 14 when Moore allegedly touched her over her underwear in 1979. Three other women accused Roy Moore of pursuing relationships with them when they were between 16 and 18 years old and he was in his early thirties. The other women said that their encounters with Roy Moore did not progress past kissing.

Kayla Moore and Roy Moore married in 1988. She worked as his secretary when he was in private practice. She was 24 at the time, he was 38. Together the couple has four children and five grandchildren.

Kayla Moore is the president of Foundation for Moral Law, a non-profit group Roy Moore started in 2002 to “protect the Constitution and protect the heritage of our country.” Both Kayla and Roy Moore have denied the allegations against the Senate hopeful.

“I was shocked that [the Washington Post] would come up with something so outrageous,” said Kayla Moore in an interview with alt-right site Breitbart News.

Roy Moore blamed the Democratic party for the allegations and has threatened to sue the Washington Post.

“These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign,” said Roy Moore in a statement to the Washington Post.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell called on Roy Moore to step aside from the race Monday, but it doesn’t appear as if he will. Roy Moore is using the Republican leader’s words in a campaign fundraising email, according to BuzzFeed News. Roy Moore’s campaign sent out an email Monday titled “Mitch McConnell's plot to destroy me.”

Roy Moore still had his defenders, however. The 14-year age gap between the couple was a fact that Alabama State Auditor Jim Ziegler used to defend Roy Moore against the allegations.

“He dated her. He married her, and they’ve been married about 35 years. They’re blessed with a wonderful marriage and his wife Kayla is 14 years younger than Moore,” said Ziegler to the Washington Examiner.

Fox News host Sean Hannity has questioned the motives of Roy Moore’s accusers, leading to several companies boycotting advertising on his show. Breitbart News decided to help Roy Moore by sending two reporters to Alabama to attempt to discredit the Washington Post’s reporting.
