The White House Visitors Office will resume public tours of the presidential house Tuesday, weeks after the announcement was made by first lady Melania Trump. The tours, a duty typically handled by the first lady's office, saw a long closure amid an administration shift.

"I am excited to reopen the White House to the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come each year," the first lady said in a statement. "The White House is a remarkable and historic site and we are excited to share its beauty and history. I am committed to the restoration and preservation of our Nation's most recognizable landmark."

The tours, which will be self-guided and scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis, are available from 7:30-11:30 a.m. from Tuesdays through Thursdays, and 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

The first lady does not live in the White House with President Donald Trump, but resides in New York with son Barron as he continues attending private school in Manhattan’s upper west side neighborhood.
