Valerie Fairman of MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” was arrested for prostitution Thursday. According to reports, the 21-year-old mom of Nevaeh Lynn was allegedly “spotted streetwalking” by police in New Castle, Delaware. She was purportedly taken into custody after she “agreed to perform a sexual act for cash.”
TMZ broke the news Friday that Fairman was arrested. The bust was made at the result of a sting operation involving the Delaware State Police New Castle Governor’s Task Force and its New Castle County Drug Unit, the New Castle County Police Department and the Wilmington Police Department. Seven other women were also arrested for prostitution, Fairman being the youngest.
“These areas were targeted in response to numerous citizen complaints of prostitution and other quality of life crimes that have been occurring,” police said in a statement via the official Delaware State Police Facebook account. Fairman and the other women each was “issued a criminal summons.” She’s required to appear at court on a later date.
Fairman was featured in Season 2 of MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” in 2010. Hailing from Oxford, Pennsylvania, Fairman was part of an adopted family of 11 kids. She joined the reality-television series in 2009 when she got pregnant at 15 years of age. Her boyfriend at the time, Matt, infamously denied that the baby was his and ended their relationship. Although Fairman was alone for part of her pregnancy, Matt ultimately returned to the picture when his daughter was born. The series ended with the pair working on their relationship for the sake of Nevaeh Lynn.
This isn’t the first time that Fairman has run into trouble with the law. In 2011 she was allegedly arrested after assaulting her adoptive mother. The Ashley’s Rumor Roundup reported the following year that the “16 and Pregnant” star shared partial custody of her child with her parents and entered rehab for drug-related issues. According to the same site, she was also charged with three misdemeanors and three felonies in 2012.
