Keyshawn Johnson and Sharna Burgess were the first couple to get sent home on “Dancing with the Stars” Monday night. The final couples came down to Bill Engvall and professional dancer Emma Slater, but it was Johnson who was sent home after he had the lowest combined judges’ scores and viewer votes.

Monday night marked the second week of “Dancing With The Stars,” season 17, and was Latin Night. The 12 celebrity couples danced the samba, rumba, paso doble, or jive. The series has changed for this season, and unlike having the dancing portion on Mondays and the elimination round on Tuesdays, one of the celebrities went home on Monday.

Johnson and Burgess preformed a samba, which turned out to be their last dance. Before he took the stage, the former football player tweeted, “My sweet daughter was at practice to take up dancing from Sharna not me, trust that!!! Jennifer wouldn’t let me teach her!!!!”

Judge Len Goodman thought Johnson had improved from last week: “I admire your effort. For me that was better than last week. Well done!”

Bruno Tonioli was also pleased: “One thing is for sure you went for it all the way. Some of the things you did I don’t think it is legal. I like you, really.”

Carrie Ann Inaba, however, wasn’t as soft: “I saw the confidence go way up and you were not lacking any hip action. A little rough around the edges.”

The duo wound up getting a total of 18/30 on Monday night, but their dance and votes from last week weren’t enough to keep them on the hit show.

Check out “DWTS” next Monday at 8 p.m. EDT to see who stays and who will go home.
