Don’t call her Stacy. Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas is officially changing her name to, well, Fergie. The 38-year-old singer, whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson, is going through with the change to become Fergie Duhamel.

The “Fergalicious” singer has been married to actor Josh Duhamel for more than four years, but, according to TMZ, the mom-to-be is making some radical changes before her bundle of joy is born. The starlet has filed legal papers to change her name, the celebrity-news site reported Sunday.

While it’s apparent why she would want to change her last name, the first-name change is a little bit more convoluted. In the documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Ferg’s attorney said she was to exchange Stacy for Fergie so she can “conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years.”

More simply, nobody, even privately, calls her Stacy. The singer, who is still legally Stacy Ferguson, must have a notice published in a local newspaper for four consecutive weeks that she is going through with the name change, TMZ wrote.

It’s not definite whether Duhamel’s and Fergie’s expected child was the reason for the impending name change, but the actor recently told ET Canada he couldn’t wait for the baby to arrive. “I feel like we’re ready for it,” he said about their lives being different. “I actually look forward to that.”

According to TMZ, a scheduled hearing to complete the name change will take place Aug. 16.
