Empire Season 3 episode 5
Fans won’t be getting more of Jamal (Jussie Smollett, left), Lucious (Terrence Howard) and the Lyon family until “Empire” returns for new episodes Nov. 2. Fox

Fans are going to have to endure another Wednesday night without the Lyon family. Fox didn’t air a new episode of “Empire” last week because of the presidential debate, and unfortunately the network won’t be airing a new episode tonight.

According to Fox’s TV lineup for Wednesday, the World Series Game 2 will be airing in “Empire’s” normal timeslot. The hip-hop drama won’t return for new episodes until next week, Nov. 2.

In Season 3, episode 4, which aired Oct. 12, Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Andre (Trai Byers) found themselves on Shine’s (Xzibit) bad side because of a business deal gone wrong. Lucious and Andre wanted to sign Nessa (Sierra McClain) to Empire Records, but when they arrived at Shine’s recording studio he had other music label bosses there for a bidding war. Lucious was obviously not happy, so Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) offered to try and sign Nessa by throwing her and Shine a huge party.

In the end, Nessa did sign to Empire but after Lucious hit Shine over the head with a bat and threatened him with a gun because he attacked Andre. Also during the episode, fans witnessed a very shocking hookup between Andre, Nessa and the ghost of his dead wife Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday).

In a synopsis for episode 5, titled “One Before Another,” is teases that the drama between Andre, Lucious and Shine is far from over. A description (via TV Guide) reads: “Retaliation seems inevitable after Lucious and Andre’s latest business encounter with Shine goes bad.”

The synopsis also says that Jamal (Jussie Smollett) teams up with Hakeem for a performance to help with his post-traumatic stress disorder; and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is caught off-guard after meeting with her probation officer.

Empire” will return for new episodes Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
