Kanye West will not be escorting his wife, Kim Kardashian, at this year’s Met Gala.

A source told People that West is still enjoying his time off from public events. “Kanye West will not be attending the Met Ball tomorrow. Kim will be going solo. He’s still very much enjoying his time off from public events. He’ll be staying back in L.A. with their kids. Everything is great with him and Kim and he’s supportive of her going solo,” the source said of West skipping the 2017 Met Gala, which will be held on Monday, May 1 in New York.

This is the first time that Kardashian and West won’t be attending the event together since they came out as a couple in 2013. At the time, the former wore a stunning Givenchy gown. This year, the reality TV star will be wearing a dress designed by Vivienne Westwood. It is still unclear whether or not a member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan will be accompanying or meeting Kardashian at the venue.

Meanwhile, West has decided to take an indefinite break from major public appearances following his breakdown and hospitalization in November. At the time, the “Gold Digger” crooner canceled the remaining 21 dates of his Saint Pablo tour. A source close to the rapper revealed that West suffered from exhaustion and sleep deprivation. “He went to the hospital at will under the advice of his physician. He’s fine,” the source said.

In October, West also faced another issue with Kardashian after the latter was robbed at gunpoint during her trip to Europe. But the source clarified that West’s health issues did not have anything to do with what happened to his wife so Kardashian is not to be blamed. “He feels like he’s under spiritual attack, and has been for a while. It’s not just the big things; it’s smaller, quieter things, internal things. You might think that it’s about Kim’s robbery, and while that didn’t help, that’s not what’s going on here. He’s dealing with a lot more subtle issues,” the source explained.

West’s mom also passed away in November, and his life has been forever changed since then. “He keeps that pain internalized, but sometimes will talk about how hard this time of the year is for him. He works through the pain every November,” the source concluded.

In a recent episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” the mom-of-two showed support for her husband when he broke down during one of his live performances. At the time of his hospitalization, Kardashian was in New York for work, but she immediately flew back to Los Angeles to be with West. During her interview for the hit E! reality TV show, she remained hopeful that things will get better soon.

“Everything will be okay. It’s forcing him to take much needed time off which he needs. I think it will be really good for him. I feel a sense of responsibility just with the pressure of taking care of everything. Even after the robbery and everything it’s just been staying home and I’ve been looking to him to just take care of everything while I stay home,” she said.
