The New York City hero who threw soup at a man yelling racial epithets in a viral video filmed on the subway is underground rapper Princess Nokia.

The video depicts a man yelling the n-word on a train while several people confront him for his behavior. The video ends with the man being shoved off the train and having soup thrown at him. Destiny Fraqueri, also known as Princess Nokia, took to Twitter early Wednesday morning to dish on the incident and claim responsibility for the thrown soup.

“This bigot called a group of teenage boys [n-word] on the train so I stood up and slapped him and everybody on the train backed me up,” she said on Twitter. “When I slapped him he called me a [n-word], and when I did all my brothers on the train came to my side and held my hand and comforted me.”

The video was taken over the weekend but started getting traction Tuesday. The video took place on the L train, which connects Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Nokia described how people came together to confront the man.

“Although painful and humiliating we stood together and kicked this disgusting racist off the train so we could ride in peace away from him,” she wrote. “And yes I threw hot soup in this mans face and kicked him off off the train, and kicked in the face. Any other racists wanna try us again?”

“The man apparently first got into an argument with teenagers regarding personal space, and then yelled the N-word as they left the train,” Joshua Pyne, who took the video and posted it to Facebook page, told the New York Daily News, Tuesday.

The East Harlem rapper takes on themes of gentrification and intersectional feminism in her music. She released her third mixtape “1992 Deluxe” last month on Rough Trade Records.
