Workers at the Verve operated plant have been sent home at once on paid leave after the deadly asbestos has been identified at a demolition site yesterday.

The State Opposition has released a statement that hundreds of people who work at Kwinana power station have been potentially exposed to the fibers of the deadly asbestos.

Eric Ripper, opposition leader, said that if it has been proven that the power station has been contaminated, the health of the workers are in a serious risk.

However, Worksafe says that Verve has followed the correct procedures upon discovering the presence of asbestos in their area.
