The American League still reigns as the odds-on favorite to claim the 2015 World Series, but the National League’s top contenders can rest a little easier knowing they won’t have to claw for a berth in the final week of the regular season.

The Toronto Blue Jays improved from 7/2 to 4/1 favorites to win it all this season, while the Kansas City Royals hold steady as their biggest challengers at 11/2, with the NL’s St. Louis Cardinals moving up and knotted with the Los Angeles Dodgers at 11/2, according to the latest odds from Bovada.lv.

But now all five of the NL’s playoff teams have been decided, with three spots in the AL still up for grabs with less than a week left in the regular season.

The Dodgers slipped from 6/1 odds just two weeks ago despite locking up their third straight NL West title after smacking the rival San Francisco Giants 8-0 for starter Clayton Kershaw’s 16th win of the season Tuesday night.

In effect, the Dodgers also closed the NL’s postseason books with all five spots now clinched. Though they still need to close out the NL Central, the Cardinals appear poised to own the NL and MLB’s top record at 99-58. They are likely to face either the Pittsburgh Pirates or Chicago Cubs, who have all but secured their one-game wild-card matchup.

The Dodgers and the 13/2 New York Mets will meet in the other NL Divisional Series. The Mets won four of the seven games against the Dodgers in the season series.

But over in the AL, other than the Blue Jays and Royals the postseason picture isn’t quite as clear. The Jays need one victory to clinch the AL East and currently hold a one-game advantage over Kansas City for the AL’s top record.

The New York Yankees appear firmly ensconced atop the AL Wild Card standings with a three-game lead, but the red-hot Los Angeles Angels are still charging ahead and trying to fend off the Houston Astros and Minnesota Twins for the second wild card berth.

Those three squads are separated by only 1.5 games in the wild card standings, and with the Angels ripping off seven straight victories they sit only two games back of the Texas Rangers for the AL West title ahead of their crucial four-game series to close the regular season.
