The first WWE PPV after WrestleMania is often times a disappointment. Extreme Rules 2014, however, delivered with several entertaining matches.

The event produced one new champion, and a contender for the best match of the year. Even with superstars like Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler and Mark Henry not featured on the card, the show exceeded expectations.

Below are the complete results from Extreme Rules, as well as a recap for each match.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan OVER Kane (Extreme Rules Match)

The championship match ended the show, as Bryan was successful in his first title defense after WrestleMania 30. A large portion of the match took place backstage, and Bryan brought Kane back to the ring on a forklift. The match concluded when Kane was put through a flaming table, right before Bryan hit his running knee for the pinfall. The feud will likely continue in June at Payback.

The Shield OVER Evolution (Six-Man Warefare)

Unsurprisingly, the six-man tag stole the show. There was a lot of exciting action outside of the ring, culminating in a Seth Rollins crossbody from the stands. Roman Reigns got the pin, after hitting Batista with a spear. All six men came out of the match looking good, and hopefully it is just the beginning of this feud.

Bray Wyatt OVER John Cena (Steel Cage Match)

The WWE’s biggest star went into full Super Cena mode, destroying Wyatt, as well as Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. With Cena about the walk out of the cage, the lights went out, and little boy appeared at the door. The child sang “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” in a deep voice, frightening Cena. Wyatt nailed his opponent with Sister Abigail’s Kiss and walked out with the victory.

Bad News Barrett OVER Intercontinental Champion Big E

Barrett took the title from Big E in an entertaining match. He hit a running Bull Hammer for the win.

Divas Champion Paige OVER Tamina Snuka

Paige successfully defended her title against AJ’s former bodyguard. She locked in her Scorpion Cross Lock submission for the victory.

Cesaro OVER Jack Swagger and Rob Van Dam

The match got off to a confusing start when RVD pinned Swagger. The elimination rules stipulate that Cesaro and RVD would be left to fight for the victory, but the commentators thought Van Dam might have gotten the win. That would not turn out to be the case, as Cesaro hit RVD with the Neutralizer, on top of a garbage can.

Alexander Rusev OVER R-Truth & Xavier Woods (2-on-1 Handicap Match)

As expected, Rusev made quick work of his two opponents. He knocked out Woods within the first minute, and forced R-Truth to tap put to his Accolade submission. After the match, he attacked Woods, who was being tended to by the WWE medical staff.

El Torito OVER Hornswoggle (“WEELC” Match)

The pre-show match turned out to be one of the most entertaining on the card. El Torito pinned Hornswoggle after putting him through a miniature table, following a leap from a miniature ladder.
