There were a lot of big moments in WWE last year, and there are plenty more to come in 2017. Considering the direction in which some storylines are headed, it looks like a few wrestlers could make history in the coming months.

AJ Styles and Charlotte are two of WWE’s top champions, but it might not be long before they drop their respective titles. A year after WrestleMania 32 was largely considered to be a disappointment, WrestleMania 33 could feature a few of the biggest matches in recent years. Below are five predictions for WWE in 2017.

John Cena Will Tie Ric Flair’s World Title Record

It’s only a matter of time before Cena gets his 16th reign as a WWE world champion, and it’s looking likely that he’ll win the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. Cena will face AJ Styles for the third time since SummerSlam, and he’ll probably get revenge for his two defeats. That could set up one of the biggest WrestleMania matches of all time.

The Undertaker Will Retire

There’s been speculation for years that The Undertaker will call it a career, but he keeps showing up at WWE’s biggest show. Now that he could finally be headed for a WrestleMania match with Cena, it makes sense for him to finally retire. The Undertaker is one of the favorites to win the Royal Rumble and earn a title shot against Cena, but even if he isn’t the last man standing in the battle royal, WWE should find a way to send off the Deadman in the main event of WrestleMania 33.

Brock Lesnar Will Face Goldberg At WrestleMania 33

If The Undertaker vs. Cena isn’t the main event of WrestleMania, Lesnar-Goldberg III could get that spot. But even if Lesnar and Goldberg don’t close out WWE’s biggest show of 2017, the match will almost certainly be on the card. Lesnar needs to get his revenge after losing to the former WCW star at Survivor Series, and they’ll have another confrontation at the Royal Rumble that leads to one final meeting at WrestleMania 33.

Samoa Joe Will Join The Main Roster

If anyone should be called up from NXT, it’s Samoa Joe. The former TNA star has nothing left to do in WWE’s developmental program, having spent more than a year and a half in NXT with two championship reigns. If he isn’t a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble, Joe could debut on “Monday Night Raw” or “SmackDown” immediately following WrestleMania 33.

Bayley Will Win The Raw Women’s Championship

After Sasha Banks and Charlotte battled over the Raw Women’s Championship for most of 2016, it’s pretty clear where WWE is going for the first part of 2017. Bayley will challenge Charlotte for the title at the Royal Rumble, and while she’s likely to lose that match, she could get her revenge at WrestleMania 33. Bayley is a future star of the WWE women’s division, and she could defend the title against a heel Sasha later this year.
