Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns will have a tag team partner when they face The Wyatt Family at Night of Champions, but it’s unknown who the third man will be. There’s been much speculation about the identity of their mystery partner, and it could potentially be a former Attitude Era superstar.

Reigns has talked about potentially facing The Rock in a dream match scenario, but it’s not impossible that the former WWE Champion could team with two-thirds of The Shield on Sunday. It appears unlikely that The Rock would return for one match, but WWE would reportedly consider it if it could help set up a future storyline.

Even though The Rock hasn’t wrestled since his WrestleMania 29 championship match with John Cena, he’s made several appearances since then. Other than showing up at WrestleMania in each of the last two years, he appeared on “Monday Night Raw” in Brooklyn a little less than a year ago.

Returning to help Reigns would make sense, since The Rock has done so before. The Rock came back at the 2015 Royal Rumble, helping Reigns win a spot in the main event of WrestleMania 31. It’s been speculated that The Rock will have a match at WrestleMania 32, possibly against Triple H or Brock Lesnar.

Chris Jericho would also make sense as a replacement for Seth Rollins in the new version of The Shield, as least for one night. He hasn’t wrestled on WWE TV since the “Beast in the East” special event on July 4, and he hasn’t been a regular on “Raw” since Sept. 2014. But he’s wrestled at a few dozen house shows in the last year, and he's certainly in shape to have a match on Sunday.

If WWE doesn’t bring back a former star, they could call up an NXT wrestler to team with Reigns and Ambrose. Kane and Randy Orton are possible partners, as well.
