A new teaser released by Xiaomi indicates that the Redmi 3 smartphone will be announced on Jan. 12. The handset will be launched to replace the Xiaomi Redmi 2 that was released in August 2015.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 had recently received certification from TENAA, a certification body from China. It was also found listed on the Chinese Radio Certification website. Now, Xiaomi has revealed some of the features as well as the launch date of Redmi 3 smartphone through a teaser on its Weibo account, Gizmo China reported.

The teaser has revealed that Xiaomi Redmi 3 launch date is Jan. 12. The budget smartphone will be arriving with 5-inch display along with the metallic chassis. The rear panel of the smartphone will be sporting a plaid design.

Apart from the aforementioned information, Xiaomi has not revealed any details on the Redmi 3 smartphone. However, it's rumoured specs had surfaced in December last year.

The 5-inch display of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 is expected to carry support for 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. It may either feature the MediaTek MT6753 chipsert or a newer MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset. Speculations indicate that the chipset will feature an octa-core processor that will work at 1.5 GHz. It will be accompanied by 2 GB of RAM.

The Redmi 3 will be coming with an internal storage of 16 GB. The rear side will house a 13-megapixel camera whereas the front side will be fitted with a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It will arrive preloaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS that will be overlaid with MIUI 7.1 UI.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 will be a dual-SIM smartphone that will carry support for 4G LTE connectivity. The smartphone is expected to sport a thickness of 8.5 mm. Like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the Redmi 3 will be packed with a massive battery of 4000 mAh battery.
