A body believed to be that of a Yale University graduate student who has been missing since last Tuesday was found inside a laboratory wall.

Police said they found the body in an area of the building where utility cables run between the floors.

We are assuming that it is her at this time, New Haven assistant police chief Peter Reichard told a news conference late on Sunday, giving no further details because detectives were treating it as an ongoing homicide case.

Annie Marie Le, 24, a doctoral student in pharmacology, was last seen on September 8 on videotape going into the Yale Medical School building , but not leaving.

She had been due to get married on Sunday. Her fiancé, Jonathan Widawsky, a graduate student at Columbia University was not a suspect, police said.

The wedding was canceled on Saturday by Le's family.

Fellow students began dropping off flowers at a fence near the building where Le worked and a candlelight vigil was planned for Monday night.
