Z Nation
"Z Nation" Season 2, episode 14 will see each character before they were survivors in the zombie apocalypse and give clues as to how the whole mess began in "Day One." Syfy

With just two episodes left in Season 2 of Syfy’s cult hit “Z Nation,” the gang is going back to the beginning to finally reveal who the survivors the show has been following actually are. In episode 14, “Day One,” the survivors recall their lives before the zombie apocalypse, as well as how the dealt with the first day of the initial outbreak.

After last week’s exciting and climactic battle against the brunt of the Zeros crime cartel, the members of Operation Bite Mark seemed to have overcome all of their obstacles on the road to California, which was just two miles away. However, before they can deliver Murphy (Keith Allan) and have the CDC try and create a vaccine for the virus with his blood, they’ll go back to a time when a zombie apocalypse was too crazy of a notion to fathom, according to the episode’s official TV Guide plot synopsis. It looks like fans might finally understand everything they need to know about Operation Bite Mark members Doc (Russell Hodgkinson), Warren (Kellita Smith), 10K (Nat Zang), Addy (Anastasia Baranova) and, as the episode’s teaser clip shows, Citizen Z (DJ Qualls).

The brief scene shows a very long-haired Citizen Z in a surprising position, dressed in an orange jump suit trying to make a deal with the FBI so they don’t throw him in jail for espionage. They want him to confess to unspecified crimes and, in exchange, they’ll give him a lighter sentence. However, Citizen Z (whose real we’re reminded is Simon Cruller) makes it clear that, whatever happens, he won’t plead guilty. That’s when his mission becomes clear.

A member of the NSA team that apparently caught him doing whatever he did to get arrested offers him one last offer. He tells him that time is of the essence and the United States government has a sudden need for someone with Citizen Z’s skills. He offers to send him to the Northern Light outpost at the North Pole in exchange for total forgiveness for his crimes. When the hacker asks what exactly he’s needed to help combat, the NSA operative slips him a note with one highly classified word on it… “Zombies.”

With California in their sights and the journey almost over, fans will have to tune in to “Z Nation” on Friday at 10 p.m. EST to see if the road to the CDC and the world’s savior, Dr. Merch (Lisa Coronado), truly is clear.
