Zooey Deschanel’s divorce from Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard is official, TMZ reported Monday.

The actress and the musician have been going through divorce proceedings for almost a year since they filed in December 2011, and now the ex-lovers have a divorce just in time for the holidays.

The two were married for nearly three years before a judge in a Los Angeles court finalized the divorce papers on Wednesday, Fox News reported.

The “New Girl Star” and Gibbard do not have any children together.

Financial details of the judgment were not provided, according to Fox News, but the marriage was damaged beyond repair.

According to the papers, "Unhappy and irreconcilable differences have arisen between the parties, which have caused the irremediable breakdown of their marriage. There is no possibility that counseling … or mediation could save the marriage."

The 32-year-old film and TV actress and the alt-rock crooner, 36, have not spoken in length about their divorce, but when they were first separated in October 2011, Deschanel told People, "We're friendly. It's all fine."

Gibbard once explained to People about his former wife, "I was just awestruck that she was even talking to me. I'd seen her movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful."

Deschanel has reportedly moved on from Gibbard and was spotted engaging in “PDA” with screenwriter Jamie Linden, according to E! News.

Months later the two seem to still be dating after the entertainment site reported they were walking hand-in-hand in New York City.
