Welsh actor Taron Egerton said the is fine Sunday after he passed out on stage during the first performance of his play “Cock” at the Ambassadors Theatre in London.

“As some of you may have heard, I passed out during the first performance of COCK last night,” Egerton, 32, said on his Instagram story. He joked of passing out, claiming it was due to his outstanding performance.

“I am completely fine. Slightly sore neck and a bruised ego but I’m fine. I’ve decided to put a positive spin on it, and I would appreciate it if anyone who was in the theatre last night just said that I gave such a committed, electrifying performance that my body couldn’t handle it and checked out,” he added.

The show was in its final 15 minutes when Egerton fainted onstage. With the production stopped, a doctor in the audience assisted to Egerton.

The director, Marianna Elliott, informed the audience that Egerton was “absolutely fine” after a 40-minute break.

A different member of the cast, Joel Harper Jackson, filled in for Egerton for the remainder of the show.

Egerton also mentioned in his Instagram story that he will be back to perform on Monday night and that he is thankful for those who came to his aid.

“Thank you to the amazing team at the theatre and my wonderful cast mates for being so lovely," he said.
