KEY POINTS

  • Mo Salah has netted 14 goals for Liverpool this season
  • He scored Liverpool's both goals in their 2-1 win over Spurs
  • Salah has now netted a total of 10 goals against Spurs in his career

Mohamed Salah is revealing the go-to strategy that helps him score goals for Liverpool FC.

Salah scored a brace in Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday. With the two goals in North London, Salah has taken his goals tally to 14 this season and is the leading scorer for the Reds.

Out of the 14 goals, six have come in the Premier League as the Reds recorded their first away win in the Premier League on Sunday. The Egyptian King has also assisted five goals in all competitions.

Speaking about his strategy in a post-match interview, Salah said he is "always looking to get the first touch" as it puts him in a "better position."

"It's important, you always try to control in as small a space as you can because also in the box there are a few legs there. I think second half I could also have done the same but I was confident if I shoot in one time it was going to go in. I'm always trying to have a good first touch because it puts me in a better position. I managed to do that today," Salah told reporters Sunday.

Liverpool are now slowly making their way back to the top four after clinching their fifth league win of the campaign. Jurgen Klopp's side is currently eighth in the Premier League table with 19 points. They have a game in hand before the teams go into the international break for the FIFA World Cup.

Salah has now netted a total of 10 goals against Spurs, which is the joint-most he has scored against an opponent, along with Manchester United.

The player also said he always tried to make a "difference for the team."

"That's a good one [his record vs Spurs]. It's always a tough opponent, here or when we play at home. But I'm always focused on the game and trying to make a difference for the team. I did that today," added Salah.
