A man discovered an alien-like creature living in his aquarium after he filled it with plants he took from Lake Waikaremoana, North Island in New Zealand recently.

The man known as Angus, found a life form swimming inside one of the green plants that he got from the lake.

In the video he posted on Reddit, the creature can be seen swaying inside the egg. The animal seems to be just about a centimeter long.

“Am I having an alien invasion? What do I do? Is it dangerous? No fish living in the tank. Only 5 snails,” he asked people on Reddit.

He received over 500 responds, with some being terrified about the creature.

“You should put a lid on the tank. You know, just to be sure if it hatches it won't kill you while you sleep,” one user warned.

“It's a dragon fly or mantis and it will kill all living things after hatching,” said another.

“Don't mind me, just commenting so I can come back once a consensus has been reached as to what planet, this is from,” another user responded.

Some also felt the creature looked like an alien.

“Damn he is shadowbanned, proof he found an alien and got whacked by government agents,” one user wrote.

Though the man is still not sure about what the creature was, some suggested it to be caddisfly.

“100% a caddisfly, you can see the head and upper body sticking out of the case and the plant matter it's attached to it for camouflage,” one user wrote.

In a similar incident in New Zealand in November 2018, a woman found a strange-looking skeletal sea creature with spike-covered skin, two legs, a tail and a long head while collecting trash after a rough storm along Rakaia Huts beach with her mother.

"When I pulled it out and saw all the teeth and barbs I was convinced it was a rare deep-sea creature. I was so excited because I love the ocean and its inhabitants. First I thought it was plastic sheeting. I pulled it out from underneath the sticks and it was a bit more than just a piece of plastic,” Mary told Fox News.

Her mother came back running to her after she heard her screaming.

“She [her mother] found an interesting piece of wood, she picked it up and at the time she yelled out 'omg' and I picked up the critter and I screamed louder than she did. She dropped whatever she was holding and came running to me,” Mary said.

Though she was initially hesitant to touch it, he muttered courage and picked it up. “My first thought was that it was something alien, but I was more fascinated than anything. I took it all the way home and gave it to a taxidermist next door to see if he knew what it was but he wasn't too sure either. That why I thought I should reach out and see if anyone else knew what it is,” she said.

She posted the photo of the creature on Facebook after which people identified the creature as a male Dipturus nasutus.
