Two teenage girls were struck and killed by an Amtrak train about nine miles south of Philadelphia on Wednesday morning.

The Acela train traveling from Boston to Washington, D.C., hit the two girls around 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Norwood, about 10 miles southwest of Philadelphia, according to Associated Press.

The two girls were Interboro Senior High School students who were supposed to be in class at the time of the incident, Superintendent Nancy Hacker said.

The names of the girls were not but Hacker said she believed the girls were sophomores from Glenolden.
