Robert B Ford is president and chief executive officer of Abbott, a Fortune 100 health technology company.
Previously, he served as president and chief operating officer, with responsibility for all of the company's operating businesses; and executive vice president of Medical Devices, leading Abbott’s Diabetes Care, Cardiovascular and Neuromodulation businesses.
He led Abbott’s Diabetes Care business through the launch of FreeStyle Libre, now the world’s leading continuous-glucose-monitoring system, and, while leading Medical Devices, oversaw the successful integration of St. Jude Medical, the largest acquisition in the company’s history.
Ford earned a bachelor's degree from Boston College and a master's degree in business administration from University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
Ford serves on the boards of the Economic Club of Chicago and the U.S.—China Business Council. He is a member of the U.S.—Brazil CEO Forum, the Business Roundtable, the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, and the Chicago Club.
