It’s desperation mode for Barcelona in its attempt to convince Lionel Messi to stay. After a series of dreadful moves that have earned the ire of the Argentine superstar, the Blaugrana is now being pressured to unleash the last ace to stall the alleged exit plan in 2021: to bring Neymar back at Camp Nou.

According to Nishant Narayanan of Everything Barca, the Spanish club is likely to consider giving up “two talented players” in exchange for the Brazilian star who had played with Messi for four years before departing for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

“As a final attempt to salvage the situation, the Catalan side is ready to part with two talented players in exchange for just one. In order to secure Neymar this season, the Catalans have left no stone unturned and these difficult times have made them desperate to sign the Brazilian and recreate the MSN trio,” Narayanan wrote.

“The arrival of Neymar could be the only thing stopping Messi from walking out the door at this point and to make this happen the Spanish side are ready to part with two megastars.”

Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele are then unveiled as the sacrificial lambs to reacquire Neymar. After all, it would not take too much off Barca to part ways with both French footballers as Griezmann has already been heavily linked to an exit from Spain while Dembele has struggled to establish any traction with the club due to injuries.

“Antoine Griezmann and fellow countryman Ousmane Dembele have both had their share of ups and downs with the club and could be saying goodbye to the Blaugrana shirt,” Narayanan continued.

“While Griezmann was brought in with a record 120 million euro signing, the 29-year-old forward has had only a few bouts of success too far and between to impress the board who are now looking to part ways with him, using his sale to secure Neymar, which could be the perfect solution to keeping Messi at Camp Nou.

“Young Dembele, on the other hand, has been victim to recurring injuries that have taken a toll on him and his performance. The 23-year-old has managed very few appearances this season and has failed to create any lasting impact that would persuade the hierarchy to keep him on.”

The possible reunion of Messi and Neymar has been one of the most closely followed developments heading into the summer transfer window. But while PSG could demand more than what is being placed on the table, the confidence is high that Barca would grant any cost in excess just for the sake of keeping its prized captain.
