The plant-based meat company Beyond Meat announced on Tuesday that it’s making a slight adjustment to its burger, which allows it to taste more like real animal beef.

This new recipe will feature 35% less fat and saturated fat and other changes are on the way as well. The company is removing mung beans and adding more vitamins and minerals, which will give it more of that meaty flavor, the company explained.

As for the calories and fat, the new recipe will only have 230 calories and 14 grams of fat, which both clock in at lower amounts from the original, CNN reports.

The new burgers will hit grocery stores starting May 3 and will come in a 2-pack, a value 4-pack and a 1lb. Beyond Beef pack.

"We are continuously working on understanding beef flavor at a deeper level to ensure our plant-based beef platform delivers a delicious and satisfying sensory experience. The new Beyond Burger’s rich flavor profile resembles that of ground beef, and extensive testing with our consumers validated this new flavor direction with likeability scoring on-par with 80/20 ground beef burgers," Dariush Ajami, Chief Innovation Officer at Beyond Meat, said in a statement.

The Beyond Burger is in122,000 retail and foodservice locations across the nation, as well as in 80 other countries, as of Dec. 2020.
