Greensburg, Indiana, is looking for new residents and is willing to pay people that relocate there as much as $5,000 and $2,000 in incentives to get them to come to its rural city.

Greensburg has partnered with MakeMyMove.com to develop the relocation program that is designed to bring more remote workers to the city, which Mayor Joshua Marsh told Fox News was part of the Greensburg/Decatur County Economic Development Corporation.

The idea behind the program was to allow remote workers to “find a new place to call home while keeping their corporate job; workers could keep their high wages but enjoy a low cost of living, low crime rate, high-quality schools and other small-town benefits,” Fox News reported.

Applicants who are accepted into the Greensburg relocation program will be offered an array of benefits in addition to $5,000 in cash that are designed to offset moving costs.

Additional incentives include a relocation concierge service, memberships to a local YMCA and co-working space, gift cards to the farmer’s market and exclusive tickets to events and performances.

In addition, families will receive access to an on-demand babysitting service through “Grandparents on Demand” as part of the Decatur County Community Foundation, where the foundation’s director and her husband will serve as babysitters when needed. They will also stand in as grandparents on Grandparents Day at school for school-aged children if needed.

All the additional perks offered to relocated residents have an estimated value of $2,000, according to MakeMyMove.

To apply for the relocation program, interested remote workers can visit https://www.makemymove.com/get-paid/greensburg-indiana.

Interested applicants must be 18 or older and be working remotely or self-employed in the U.S. They must also be willing to move to Greensburg within the next six to 12 months.

Greensburg is known as “Tree City” as it has had a tree growing out of the roof of its courthouse tower since 1870.

The city has a population of 11,228 people and is situated about 50 miles from Indianapolis. The average home price (three bedrooms, two bathrooms) is $176,308, as listed by MakeMyMove.
