  • Warren Moon says Colin Kaepernick could be a good fit in Seattle
  • The Seahawks almost signed Kaepernick in 2017
  • Moon stressed that Kaepernick will need to focus on football if he wants to return to the NFL

Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon believes Colin Kaepernick’s playing career in the NFL is far from over. The 63-year-old says Kaepernick can still prove that his game still belongs to the league as he sees the Settle Seahawks being an ideal destination for the controversial quarterback.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Moon called Kaepernick suiting up for the Seahawks as a “good fit” given that the 32-year-old’s style of play has attributes perfect to be utilized in Seattle.

"They (Seahawks) know what he can do as a player cause they've been against him many times in the division when he was the starting QB in San Francisco," Moon said. "It's just a matter of whether he still wants to play football. I think the Seahawks style of play fits what he likes to do and I think it would be a good fit if he wants to play football."

Kaepernick’s name has been amongst the headlines once again with the sudden uproar of protests from the Black community following the death of George Floyd.

A known political activist, Kaepernick sparked a controversy after he was seen kneeling while “The Star-Spangled Banner" was being played prior to the start of a pre-season game as he was playing for the San Francisco 49ers.

The former 36th overall draft pick then revealed that his gesture was in protest of the injustices being faced by his race in the country.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” he said. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

In the midst of all the outside noise, Moon stated that Kaepernick still deserves another shot to play in the NFL. However, he stressed that the Milwaukee-born quarterback will have to think about being less involved in social issues should he seriously pursue a football comeback.

"I know he's really involved in this crusade of his with social injustice and that," Moon said. "It takes a lot of focus so you're gonna have to pick one.

"If he's willing to play football and put the time in that's its gonna take to be a quarterback in the NFL, he definitely deserves an opportunity to get that because he was definitely misinterpreted 4 years ago with his stand."

Notably, Kaepernick already had the chance to play for the Seahawks in 2017 as a free agent, but it did not pan out as allegations that he was being "blackballed" due to his protests began to surface.
