Clemson’s 44-16 victory over Alabama Monday night didn’t only give them the 2019 national title. It also made the Tigers the favorites to win the 2020 College Football National Championship.

After dominating Nick Saban’s team, Clemson has better than 2/1 odds to successfully defend their title next year, via the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. They are ahead of Alabama, who has better than 3/1 odds.

Before Monday’s game started, Alabama was the 2020 favorite ahead of Clemson.

At this point, it would be surprising if the two rivals didn’t meet in next season’s CFP championship game. Alabama and Clemson have faced off in the title game in three of the last four years with the Tigers winning twice. The Crimson Tide beat Clemson in the CFP semifinals a season ago.

Both starting quarterbacks will return for the 2019 college football season. Tua Tagovailoa threw 41 touchdown passes as the Heisman Trophy runner-up for Alabama. Expectations will be high for freshman Trevor Lawrence, who completed 20 of 32 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns in the title game.

Ohio State is a distant third when it comes to national championship contenders. They’ve got 12/1 odds with quarterback Dwayne Haskins going into the NFL Draft.

Georgia is tied with Ohio State with 12/1 odds. Michigan is next with 14/1 odds, followed by Oklahoma with 15/1 odds.

Texas has 20/1 national championship odds.
