The English page of Wikipedia, the world's free online encyclopedia, was dark on Wednesday except for a paragraph urging users to protest legislation designed to stop copyright piracy, but that Wikipedia says could fatally damage the free and open Internet.

While Wikipedia, Reddit and sites on the Cheezburger Network black themselves out in protest over the SOPA bill, Flickr, Wired and Google have joined in the protest without going completely black. Don't worry, Google will not join the SOPA Blackout of Reddit and Wikipedia (which is already devastating enough for users who heavily rely on these sites).
